Tasmania has many exceptional world class beers, whiskies & wines.

There are two major breweries in Tasmania; Cascade Brewery in Hobart and J. Boag & Sons Brewery in Launceston, which each offer tours. A number of boutique beer makers and distillers are spread around the state.

You can tour the Tasmanian Wine Routes easily by car or on guided tours. The island’s Wine Routes include the Tamar Valley, north of Launceston along both sides of the Tamar River and east to Pipers River; the Derwent, Coal River and Huon Valleys (together comprising the Southern Wine Route), an easy drive from Hobart; and the growing wine regions of the North West and the East Coast.

Tasmania is the centre of Australia’s craft whisky industry, and there are numerous distilleries throughout the state. Due to the similarity of Tasmania’s climate to that of Scotland, Tasmanian whiskies are primarily based on Scotch whiskies. Unlike in other areas, there is no large-scale commercial whisky distillation in Australia, and the industry is dominated by small boutique distilleries. Two of Tasmania’s most important distilleries are in Cambridge, and in Hobart, both of which have won prestigious international awards.

У блесны «Тасманский дьявол» есть свои особенности и преимущества. К очевидным плюсам можно отнести несколько факторов.

Есть и свои недостатки. Снасть под названием «Тасманский дьявол» демонстрирует не лучшие аэродинамические показатели. Кроме того, она довольно дорого стоит в сравнении со своими аналогами. Есть и свои требования к леске: в комплекте со слишком толстой приманка не будет достаточно хорошо играть.

Классифицировать «тасмана» можно по нескольким параметрам. Форма у этого типа блесен всегда одинакова — именно она обеспечивает необходимую игру на воде. А вот другие важные отличия стоит рассмотреть более подробно.

Масса изделия. Блесны имеют вес от 7 до 70 г, выбор зависит исключительно от размеров «хищника», на которого предстоит забрасывать приманку.
Расцветка. Палитра оттенков очень широка, есть более яркие и совсем блеклые варианты. Их выбор обуславливается погодными условиями — самые сочные тона принято использовать на ярком солнце, в пасмурный день лучше применять неяркие варианты. На щуку традиционно применяют приманку цвета Frog, лосось хорошо клюет на Fire Tiger, Rainbow Trout.
Заглубление. По этому признаку блесны классифицируют в основном профессионалы. Варианты среднего и крупного размеров имеют дополнительное отверстие впереди – пропуская леску через него, можно добиться увеличенного заглубления. Указанные на упаковке параметры всегда актуальны только для самой медленной проводки.

Отдельная классификация предусматривает различия по модельному ряду «Тасманского дьявола». У первого производителя и владельца лицензии есть 5 версий продукции, каждая из которых имеет свои особенности. Каждая модель от Wigston» s Lures заслуживает более пристального внимания. Стоит изучить их детально.

Little Tassie Devil. Приманка на радужную и дикую форель, других мелких рыб. Предназначена для использования в сочетании с легкими спиннингами. Вес блесны всего 7 г, длина 38 мм.

Помимо базовых вариантов, широко применяются и модифицированные самими рыбаками блесны. Например, вместо обычного «тройника» ставят крючок с противозацепами. А также может использоваться поводок длиной 1 м с лососевой мухой или искусственной наживкой на конце.

Northeast Tasmania (Launceston, Ben Lomond, Bridport, Campbell Town, George Town) This area encompasses the city of Launceston and the Tamar Valley, the mountainous region of Ben Lomond, the Midlands, and the North East.

North West Coast (Stanley, Wynyard, Somerset, Burnie, Devonport, Cradle Mountain, Latrobe) Small coastal townships and cities following the coast. And some very scenic inland areas.

East Coast (St Helens, Bicheno, Scamander, Swansea, Freycinet Peninsula, Maria Island) Stunning beaches including the Bay Of Fires and Wine Glass Bay, voted some of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

West Coast (Queenstown, Strahan) The West Coast has long been the centre of mining in Tasmania, with a small population

South West This whole region is protected inside the South West National Park.

Bass Strait Islands (King Island, Flinders Island) The two secluded but very scenic islands in the Bass Strait between Tasmania and mainland Australia.

Southern Beaches A small region in the Southeastern corner of Tassie with stunning beaches, and often, an unspoken one.

Большинство любителей платной рыбалки используют микроколебалки, чаще от японских производителей, но оригинальный внешний вид и игра «тасманского дьявола» могут привлечь форель, уже повидавшую немало различных Waterlаnd’ов и Norries’ов.

Изготовление своими руками

Сделать «тасманского дьявола» своими руками довольно сложно и мало кто из рыболовов этим занимается. Если все же возникнет непреодолимое желание попробовать свои силы, то потребуется нижеследующее.

Материалы:

пластмассовая трубка. Трубку надо искать среди подручных материалов. Она должна быть прочной, но не ломкой;
прозрачный листовой пластик нужной толщины, который также не должен быть хрупким;
эпоксидная смола;
толстая сталистая проволока;
заводное кольцо;
тройной крючок;
красители.

Инструменты:

ножовка по металлу;
болгарка;
напильник;
надфиль;
круглогубцы.

Чертеж

Для изготовления чертежа надо скопировать на листе бумаги готовую оригинальную блесну. Необходимо соблюсти все пропорции.

Процесс изготовления приманки выглядит следующим образом:

Отпиливают кусок трубки нужной длины.
Вырезают крылья.
Делают пропилы по бокам трубки.
Вклеивают в них крылья.
Осторожно выгибают заготовку под небольшим углом.
Обрабатывают острые углы напильником и надфилем.
Окрашивают приманку в меру способностей – краской или водостойким маркером.
Вставляют металлический сердечник.
Делают на одном конце колечко для крепления лески, а на другом для заводного кольца с тройником.

Modular, customizable combat backpacks

Tasmanian Tiger has redesigned the functionality of its proven combat backpacks: The TT Modular Trooper Pack and the TT Modular Combat Pack now feature a tidy array of laser-cut Molle on the exterior. Molle hook-and-loop on the inside allows the packs to be fitted with the wide range of TT accessories developed just for that purpose. Both backpacks have main compartments that open completely, and the special zipper guide allows them to be used as top-loaders.

The new TT Modular Gunners Pack has a modular front pocket design in addition to its main compartment with Molle hook-and-loop: The upper front pocket can be folded down and magazine holders can be attached with Molle there. The two front pockets in the middle can be removed and the Molle hook-and-loop surface behind them can then be loaded with gear. The TT Gunners Pack can also be attached to plate carriers. The basic version of the backpack (four colors) is made of lightweight nylon ripstop material while two other color versions feature Cordura 500D.

An expanded Medic Line

With the TT Modular Support Bag, Tasmanian Tiger presents a rectangular padded medic bag with a variety of carrying options. It can be used as a shoulder bag as well as mounted on plate carriers or backpacks – either with the classic Molle system or with a quick release Molle stick. Ty the Tasmanian Tiger

Ty was originally thought to be an orphan in the first adventure, because of the events that took place before the story narrated. He was found as a child and was raised by the Bilbies. During the opening of Ty the Tasmanian Tiger, Ty falls down a chasm while playing with one of the bilbie boys and discovers the Bunyips, who are large, half-spirit, half-beast creatures. They tell him that his parents were imprisoned by Boss Cass in the Dream Time and that he must find a way to free them. At the end of the game, Boss Cass is taken to prison for his crimes and Ty’s Family is set free.

Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 2: Bush Rescue

When the town of Burramudgee was under attack by Demon Fluffies, Ty, Sly, and Shazza got in their Bunyips to combat them, and prevent them from setting Boss Cass free from Currawong prison. Unfortunately, Cass gets out and sets up his own country of Cassopolis to claim diplomatic immunity to punishment for his crimes. Ty has little time to worry though, as he has to attend the opening of Bush Rescue, a newly formed force of outback dogooders. After facing down two of Fluffy’s mechs, Ty uncovered a Data N.U.T. which he gave to Julius to discover Cass’ plan to take over Southern Rivers with his mutant Uber Reptiles.

Ty the Tasmanian Tiger 3: Night of the Quinkan

After living peacefully in his island nation of Cassopolis with Shazza, Ty is summoned again to help the Bunyips fight a new evil… the Quinkan. When Ty ends up six months into the future. He finds the new alien species have invaded Southern Rivers, destroyed Burramudgee and caused Bush Rescue to disband. All would have been lost if not for “The General”, the military leader that kept the remnants of society together. Now Ty with some help from unusual new allies, and attempt to turn back the Quinkan invasion.

Ty is now known as the famous hero that saved Southern Rivers countless times. Ty and his mates at Bush Rescue have regrouped. Their new H.Q. in town of Coolarangah on the shores of Lake Burramudgee reaches out to help those in need whenever they are in danger. Things have since been quiet since Cass set up a resort island of Cassablanca and “retired” there. Except strange, mysterious things are starting to happen around Southern Rivers like the shadowy figure that is said to have been seen on the outskirts of town. There’s a mystery to be solved for sure.But first Bush Rescue is out to help one of their friends move his Thunder Egg museum.

There are no international scheduled flights to Tasmania, except from New Zealand. All other flights must come through mainland cities. There are seasonal flights over Antarctica.

Flights to Hobart from Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, and the Gold Coast as well as Auckland.
Flights to Launceston from Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
Flights to Burnie and Devonport from Melbourne.

The crossing can be a little choppy at times, but provides beautiful views and costs around $200 each way. You have the option of booking one of a range of a cabins or a reclining chair for the journey.

Crossings can also be part of cruise ship itineraries.

Rental car companies usually have restrictions on taking vehicles into or out of Tasmania on the ferry. If you have hired a car on the mainland and need a car to hire in Tasmania, it’s best to drop the car off in Melbourne CBD (there is no hire car dropoff at Station Pier), then take the 109 tram out to Station Pier (the terminus is across the road from the ferry terminal); car hire is available at the Devonport terminal.

There is no ferry service between New Zealand and Tasmania (or indeed anywhere else in Australia).

Road rules are simple: 50 km/h on all Tasmanian streets, 110 km/h on highways and 100 km/h on sealed country roads and 80 km/h on unsealed roads, unless otherwise signposted. Many of Tasmania’s country roads are narrow and windy and some local drivers can be very dangerous, especially if they know the road and you don’t. Be especially careful driving between dusk and dawn as this is when the wildlife is most active: keep on the lookout for wallabies, rabbits, possums and others. Be prepared to see a lot of roadkill. Wallabies and wombats can make a mess of your vehicle if hit.

Bushwalking can be a truly breathtaking experience in Tasmania, but be sure to obtain the right gear, local advice and maps. Always sign the logbook at the beginning and end of each walk. Be aware that mobile coverage is limited in wilderness areas. The main dangers of bushwalking are getting lost and/or suffering from hypothermia. Tasmania’s weather is notoriously changeable. Be sure to take a good raincoat and warm clothes with you even on a sunny day because an hour or two later it could be pouring with rain. If undertaking more serious bushwalking a map and compass is a must, as is a good sleeping bag and tent for multi-day walks.

Mosquitoes are present all year round. There are no mosquito-born viruses. A good repellent is advisable if going into the bush.

There are three species of snake in Tasmania: copperhead, white-lipped, and tiger. The tiger snake is one of the most venomous snakes in the world, but don’t let that deter you. No one has died from a snake bite in Tasmania since 1977. All three use the same anti-venom so identification of the snake is not important. Most snakes will slither away as soon as they hear you coming.

While in wilderness areas the water may be good to drink, but it is still highly recommended that you boil before consumption. If in touristy areas, such as The Overland Track, always boil your water or risk gastro. Some towns have permanent boil water warnings, which are usually signposted as you enter the town.
